Richard - no matter how much they spend to buy back stock it will not show up on the income statement with current accounting rules. Quite a bit of good discussion on this topic on the Dell thread a week or so ago, driven by the fortune article. If you think the options outstanding are not high as a percentage of total you have not dug deep enough IMO.
