Aurum,

One of the biggest myths I see perpetuated, especially by some investment letter writers, S&T, is that the gold heap leaching industry went through the same problems as the DD's are going through.

Copper and Uranium were successfully heap leached back in the 60's. The problems had nothing to do with chemistry or unassayable values, they had to do with the mechanics of building the dumps so that they could maintain permeability.

I think if anyone did some real research, they would find that heap leaching of gold had more to do with the gov. allowing the price of gold to change from $35/oz to following the international price. It was after that time that heap leaching of gold became profitable. Even today it would be real hard to leach gold at $35/oz.
