SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 1998--Cygnus(R) Solutions, the
leader in cross-platform embedded software for the widest range of 32- and
64-bit microprocessors, today announced that it has named Alex Daly as
president and CEO.
Daly, 37, had been senior vice president worldwide sales and corporate
marketing and chief marketing officer at C-Cube MicroSystems, Inc. In these
positions, he was responsible for growing sales in consumer, PC, digital
set-top box and professional video creation business segments. These
businesses had combined fiscal year 1997 revenues in excess of $320 million.
"With his extensive strategic marketing and microprocessor industry
experience, Alex Daly is a proven executive capable of driving Cygnus'
vision to become the open software standards leader in embedded computing,"
said John Johnston, a Cygnus Solutions board member who led the search. In
addition, Tom Barton will be promoted to the newly created position of
senior vice president of operations effective immediately. In this position,
Barton will have worldwide responsibility for managing all aspects of
corporate operations including customer service. Barton was acting interim
president and CEO.

Prior to C-Cube MicroSystems, Daly spent four years with Intel Corporation,
where he was most recently the director of marketing for the Mobile
Computing Group. Before that, he was the strategic marketing manager for the
Standard ICs Division at SGS-Thomson Microelectronics. Daly also held
various positions in computer design and architecture at Texas Instruments,
Honeywell Inc. and E-Systems.
Daly earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the
University of Miami, Florida and his MBA from the University of Dallas.
