ERICSSON WINS USD 172 MILLION GSM CONTRACT IN HEILONGJIANG

Ericsson has signed USD 172 million (SEK 1,324 million) contract
with the Heilongjiang Posts and Telecommunications Administration
(HPTA) in China for the third expansion phase of the GSM network in
Harbin, the province's capital city.

Combined with the first part of this contract, signed April 29, the
total value of Ericsson's expansion contract amounts to USD 291
million (SEK 2,240 million), making it the largest contract signed
to date between Ericsson and the HPTA.

The new expanded GSM network is scheduled to be put into service at
year-end, bringing the capacity of the HPTA network to almost 2
million subscribers.

"This contract marks another milestone in our relationship with the
HPTA. We now look forward to further supporting HPTA to meet the
rapidly growing demand for communications as the province's economy
continues to expand," says Michael Ricks, Executive Vice President
and Chief Operating Officer, Ericsson (China) Co. Ltd.

Ericsson has been the sole supplier of GSM networks to Heilongjiang
since 1995. With this contract, the province has purchased more than
USD 500 million worth of GSM equipment from Ericsson.

Meanwhile, Ericsson China donated USD 120,000 (RMB 1 million) to the
HPTA to build schools in the province within the Hope Project.

GSM is the world's most widely deployed digital wireless
communications standard. Ericsson is the market leader in GSM
worldwide, with almost half the world's 80 million GSM subscribers
connected by Ericsson systems. More than 110 network operators in
some 60 countries around the world rely on Ericsson's GSM systems.

China is Ericsson's largest market. Ericsson China has more than
3,500 employees in 22 offices and 8 joint ventures providing the
full range of telecommunications solutions and products.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries.
Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones
and infocom systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in
telecommunications.
