Ok, I'm going to point out something I probably shouldn't. I'm going to do so very cold heartedly... this is not my preference, only the simple truth. Humans occupy the very pinacle of the predatory chain... as such there are only several mechanisms for controling them. Self control (slim chance), competition, natural disaster, and a more lethal competitor. Self control can take the form of many guises, the most common one appears to be genocide. Informed birth control is the only one that can lead to a sustainable population without the need for war and significant need for violence. We will continue to use war and other acts of violence as a means to control our population until we reach a point where we all learn and practice the art of control of our own species as we practice the control of many other species on this planet. It will be a difficult place to reach and not without great suffering in the part of our species... and probably many others as well. As has been said many times before, WE are our own worst enemy... Chuck
