Gary, you say CS has better vlan products than csco. Is that taken as a given? How about bay and coms versus csco and cs in vlan? Finally, I thought Lucent bought Agile. As for csco acquisitions, the csco - cs merger always made sense from a product standpoint, but its two competitors that could never agree to that (IMHO). I've always thought Newbridge Networks would make a good target for CS and to a lesser extent, BAY (not as much csco). Good entry into telcos - products and sales contacts/sales strategies. Problem is, it would be the "big" acquisition (like Synoptics/Wellfleet and 3com/chipcom) and those are much riskier. As for csco acquisitions (that is the thread) I think its clear the next wave of acquisitions will be in network management software. These deals will be smaller (under $50 million on average I would guess) but at least as numerous. What do you guys think? Later.
