Didn't do a ton of work on NMSS. Big booth, decent attendance. Here's my concern. A fair amount of NMSS's long term growth will be driven by voice over IP. My reaction is that it's a little early.

Voice over IP is an interesting tool for integrated data and isochronous services, it IS NOT attractive as an economic replacement for voice over circuit solutions. I think a lot of people were think that internet telephony would be the replacement for circuit telephony and in short order. I doubt that's going to happen. First, the regulatory advantage that IP telephony had is disappearing, second the economic advantage that IP telephony had is disappearing. Longer term, it makes sense to integrate voice and data transmission on a single network, but that is probably two to 5 years away. Meanwhile, complete solutions vendors like cisco are developing their own tools in this segment.

NMSS might be an attractive takeover candidate, perhaps from a company like Bay, but I don't play on that speculation.
