Doug, concerning "I'm inclined to think that the story as we know
it lacks a few important details." I certainly agree. The 6 deaths by themselves mean nothing. As I said before, either PFE does not know about the other 14 plus deaths that would be expected to occur under normal circumstances, or Viagra lowers the death rate. I think the former is probably true. PFE is required to report any deaths that occur while a person is taking Viagra that they know about. Under normal circumstances you would expect many more than 6. This reporting, by itself, in no way suggests a causal relationship.
If the FDA or PFE thought at this time there was a likely causal relationship (outside the contraindication of nitrates), sales of Viagra would have been halted in the U.S. by now.
