I agree with all of your comments.. However, your main argument for not using SGI revolves around price. This is a major factor, but can be improved, unlike in the PC world, where even if someone wanted to compete with MS they couldn't Secondly, the reason people go to MS is not because of software support. You have the cause and effect backwards.. Developers support Os's that people use. If we had a competitive environment more OS's would have support. (The main reason MS has a monopoly is because we can't get out of the above problem
