Why? The K6-2 costs about the same to make as a vanilla K6 (in terms of die size), and offers better performance. Once OpenGL and Direct3D drivers appear in June/July, K6-2 will have top of the line Pentium-II beating performance on older games like Quake and Quake2.

As for the next year--well, suffice it to say that K6-3 is on the way soon and by this time next year, K7 will be appearing.
