COMPAQ NT MODELS USES S3 CONTROLER & DRIVERS Description: Installing Windows NT 3.51 on Professional Workstation 5100 with STB Systems MVPController During the Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Version 3.51 installation, the Display Settings dialog box by default selects the S3 Graphics Driver for use with the STB Systems MVP Workstation Graphics Controller. If the "Test" button on the Windows NT 3.51 Display Properties dialog box is selected and then the OK button on the Testing Mode popup box is selected to test the STB Systems MVP Workstation Graphics Controller, a black screen appears. Resolution: Reinstall Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Version 3.51. When prompted by the Windows NT Display Properties dialog box to test the S3 graphics controller, select "Cancel," which bypasses the Test Display operation and allows the Windows NT 3.51 installation to complete. Install the STB Systems MVP Workstation Graphics Controller Driver immediately after the Windows NT 3.51 installation completes. compaq.com S3 COULD BE A $20 STOCK BY YEARS END, MAYBE EVEN A BUY OUT CANDIDATE, IF THE COMPUTERS AND SEMICONDUCTORS BUSINESS PICKS UP.
