I am a little confused. Since a trade at bid means a sell order and a trade at ask imply a buy order

You have it backwards. Bid is to buy... ask is to sell. All I was pointing out is that their is more buyers than sellers all day long.
It appears that this has been going on last week also. When the sellers dry up the price goes up. Now since their hasn't been any news out last week and this week I can't figure out why volume is up and the price is still going up. The only conclusion I came up with is that there is some news that us poor people don't know about.
