GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1998--ZMAX CORPORATION (NASDAQ SMALL CAP: ZMAX - news) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Century Services, Inc. (CSI), has been awarded a contract with Lockheed Martin Mission Systems, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT - news), to provide Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance services in support of a major health care provider.

Under this contract, CSI will provide Y2K assessment, remediation and testing of COBOL and RPG code on ES9000, HP3000, AS400, and VAX platforms.

''We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Lockheed Martin on this project,'' stated Michael Higgins, President and CEO of ZMAX Corporation. ''The health care field is one that will see a tremendous impact from date problems, and CSI can identify the essential compliance issues quickly and resolve them effectively. We hope our successful completion of this project will lead to additional systems work with Lockheed Martin and this major health care provider.''

CSI specializes in assisting business organizations and government agencies with a total Year 2000 compliance solution by providing project management, analysis, remediation, testing and consulting services for date-sensitive, legacy-based computer systems.

CSI has developed the proprietary ''VISION 2000(SM)'' service, which provides an accurate, controlled, and verifiable solution for all COBOL, PL/1 and RPG main programs, subprograms, copybooks, JCL, database definitions and other software components requiring change to accommodate year 2000 dates. The windows-based VISION 2000(SM) software has demonstrated high accuracy in identifying the lines of code directly or indirectly impacted by date change.
