Rich,

The national rollout of INNN would have included their chip in the set top boxes, with a very cheap handheld remote. Sony was putting up the major money (mid 1994). Sony killed the deal at the last minute because TCI wanted too much for themselves.

Baby Bells and MSFT never had serious ITV projects. GTE and Time Warner had major long term projects. They are still going on a limited basis. The problem was the content, video on demand was the cornerstone. With no two way capabilities, VOD couldn't carry it.

INNN had two way. They also had over 5,000 satisfied paying subscribers. Some of them were friends and customers of mine. They had the content and the largest ITV project in the world with paying customers. What they didn't have was the cash to go national. Without TCI's blessing no one else could supply the cash. You should read the lawsuit.

NTN has the content I believe, but they don't own the technology. With all the big companies that threw money at INNN, it is telling that no one is involved with NTN.

INNN's patents are valid over the internet, by the way.
