Andy,

I realize that your problem is on right side of chart. An xma is calculated differently than other ma's. It originates with the oldest data available not just the number of days specified as with simple, weighted, etc. QP calculates xma's using the number of days displayed not all the data in the database. An xma plotted in QP is therefore affected by the number of days displayed. Try a plot with a 40 xma on a 50 day chart and increase the number of days displayed in increments of 10 or 20 days. Watch the plotted 40 xma move relative to the price bars.

I am concerned that QP may be doing the same thing in the scans. If so a scan looking for the cross of 5 & 40 xma's may be off by a few days.

I only mentioned the left side of the chart since this provides the clue as to what QP is doing.

The xma calculation is explained in Achelis' book p. 188.

Hope this helps.

Bob
