Tony - Re:"Have it from a pretty good source that the Intel roadmap has Klamath operating at clock freq's between 233 and 300 MHz.."

Hope your source is a good one. I don't doubt that Intel's new 0.25 micron process, when introduced, will be capable of producing 300 MHz Pentium Pros.

What I don't know, at this point, is the maximum clock speed for a Pentium Pro that Intel can get out of the current 0.35 micron process.

Re: "Also on good source, new PCI bus on
the motherboard at 66 MHz. Does the latter sound right?"

This will be a capability of the new chip sets which drive the PCI bus. An equally, if not more, important issue for these new chip sets (again, unannounced) will be the overall external clock speed that drives the CPU. Currently, Intel's CPUs use a 60 MHz or 66 MHz external clock. However, Cyrix has gone to a 75 MHz external bus (with appropriate clock multipliers on their chips) for their newest 6x86 devices giving them better system performance than the comparable Intel parts which use lower speed buses.

I hope this last item is a priority item for Intel. I have seen references to 100 MHz external clock speeds on forthcoming chip sets - but this has not been confirmed by anyone at Intel. Of course, VERY fast DRAM (SDRAM ??) will be required to keep pace with these clock speeds.
