My name is Maureen Luck and I am responsible for investor relations for Kazakhstan Minerals (Kazminco)in North America. Kazminco now has a web site at kazminco.com. The 1997 annual report has just been printed and will be mailed out next week. Shortly thereafter it will appear on the web site together with an updated slide presentation.

Currently KMC is in the final stages of pulling all the documentation together for the final feasibility study on the Varvarinskoye gold/copper project to the north of Kazakstan. A news release is expected in early June. KMC is seeking a joint venture partner on the Tasbulat Oil Project and presently has 12 different companies expressing interest. Expect a news release this summer. In addition the company is expecting to announce a j.v. on one of its mineral projects very soon.

As far as the stock price is concerned the only negatives I can report are that some companies have experienced difficulties in their dealings with the Kazak government, particularly where licences are concerned. This is not the case with KMC which has extremely good relationships both locally and governmentally in Kazakhstan. However, a fair amount of negative press has definitely impacted on the stock price as of course has the current gold price. Varvarinskoye still looks economic even at today's gold price.

If you wish to contact me I can be reached at 1-800-367-1735 or 604-883-2565. Fax is 604-883-0287. I would be please to mail a current package of information to anyone who requests it.
