Yes, coding certain standard structures may be fairly common and easy, but larger programs are a lot of choices and compromises between varying needs. That is where the true genius lies. In particular, performance and compact code (especially important in the early days) is very important and very few programmers are good at this. (BTW, I am a programmer).
