It's hard to seperate fact from the ill will so many express towards Softram and Syncronys Softcorp. I have looked into it and there is an abundance of stories about Softram that say what you do. All I can say is they must have a lot of stock in one of it's competitors. Softram did and does have ram compression coding in it's program. It does work with Windows 3.1 but did not with Windows 95. This has been proven by several noted computer scientisis in several papers after looking at the code and conducting tests. The code needed to be better to work with Windows 95 which is what they have been working on. Why so many have arrived at the verdict of scam I don't know. They withdrew their product and paid everyone back. I don't know what more they could do. If it works now (along with their 7 other products) then they are due to come back strong. Their stock is very cheap now, that is my point. Forget the past and the strong emotion some feel about them and make some $$$$$$$$$!! When they have earnings that stock price will go up, and it has plenty of room to go up.
Your point is well taken about memory being so cheap right now. From what I have read these programs will show an improvement in your computer operation no matter how much ram you have by more efficient use of the computers resources (as you said). I would have to go back and read up again to say exactly how.
And I also went back and reread the article that sent me here and it was Connectix not Symantec that has the RamDoubler program that competes with Helix. My mistake, but it led to some interesting talk. BOB
