Harry..even if i mispelllll???<g> <g>.
enterprise computing goal is a strategy I help start form day one in 1983.. but, what they talk about is where they use a distributived porcessing envitonment that even allows message busing between locations into an industrial strength relational database. Like a SAP in oracle . Their acct , financial, mfg, sales, mkt, mat'l systems all realtime interactive, and integrated.. and of course running on proliant fault-tolerant cpq servers. They are moving along world wide but their plans calls for houston mfg in 12 months.. I don't believe it will happen.. 24 months and I will think that is amazing.. no more Risc hp3000 in 12 months is a no way.
Someone else said purchase cisco.. I don't know..they are moving up chain but that's a ways off. I would never say purchase cisco. I like cisco but 3 com is another goodie.
atm is for the fast high transaction.. most if not all mfg corp. can do it all with a 100mbit corp. backbone with selective 100mbit to desktop... distributive procession in truly clinet cerver environment allows this. I think the next evolution of 100mbit will do it for corps.. let the banks and financial, and a host of others go ATM.
router???? i hate them but the big corps need them.. but they better remember instantaneous response time is still needed. Had 10-15k servers and don't know how many routers when I left cpq.. I think it is less now.
Remember , I'm not the techie..I'm the guy who sells to sr. management and directs the impl to customers internally so they can exceed achievment of their goals..reuduce cost and cycle time while increasing quality of processes. |
