LK, "Usual Sam-rant. Which drive maker increased their top line an astonishing 8.5% quarter-over-quarter last quarter? Which drive maker lost the least on their desktop operation?" Yeah, they're apparently doing well now. Or so their PR suggests. I haven't seen the numbers you suggest, and even if I did, I probably wouldn't believe them. Don't forget, they're coming off a small base, and are in a sweet spot for them. They did this a few years ago, too, before Hyundai bought them. Stock went from about 4 to 18 and back again in about a 9 month period (in 92 or 93, I think).
I know, I know, I'm getting to be a parrot impersonator, but I still wonder if they are really making money, or if their factories were built with funny money. What depreciation do they show? I doubt they could afford to build them today, and I doubt that they will be able to afford to build more next year, if things in Korea Inc. keep going the way they are going, which seems likely. They are still small relatively potatoes for Hyundai (unless the car business goes under, always possible, I suppose). And if they use price to grab more market share, they will slit their own throat.
Meantime, I also presumed to be a Kam impersonator today. Hope I didn't take undue liberties. Please correct me if I was wrong (goes without saying, but ...).
