<Can you imagine MSN competing with AOL and given the same valuation? Or Microsoft Internet Products going head to head with Netscape and Yahoo and catching their valuations>

Baby MSFT's will receive significant technological advances inherented from thier products already superior integration with the most ubiquitous OS. It is not a stretch to imagine the baby Bills reaching the top of thier respective markets in short order (actually, they would be starting out on top of thier markets, since nearly all of them have majority market share). This would call for significantly higher valuations that MSFT as a whole since the market would be forced to realize the value of what were powerful synergies in the "whole" Microsoft.

AS for the valuations of NSCP and Yahoo, they won't last (actually YAhoo may have a chance) and neither would MSFT's if itwas in that realm solely. I do agree that the component would trade at a higher premium.
