I know you gurus would rather debate the merits of various approaches to backing up computer files but may I interrupt this flow of ideas with a couple of mundane questions?

One, how do you back up hidden files? I have been using xcopy to back up files to a Jazz drive. However, xcopy will not copy system and hidden files. Is there a backup program available that will copy system and hidden files?

Two, How do you get around the problems caused by win386.swp. Whenever I try to backup my windows directory the backup process stops about half way through because none of the copy programs can access win386.swp. This wouldn't be so bad if the copy programs skipped over win386.swp as I don't want to backup win386.swp. But instead of skipping over win386.swp all the copy programs I have tried quit copying. Is there a easier way then using Windows to select all of the files in the windows directory except win386.swp and then use Windows to copy the files to a backup drive.

Thanks in advance for your help. H.R. Hansen
