Hi Jeff, yes when it freezes right or left click on the mouse doesn't open up the windows. Strange stuff. But I will try playing with things as you suggested next time it happens.

The disk noise is a lot worst than the usual screaching or clicks. It's very loud. My disk (Western Digital) makes too much noise as is. I have already had a crash and replaced it few months ago. But this type of noise doesn't happen with any other app. It was a PCQuote salseperson who told me the shutdown was hard on the disk, not a Gateway person. She was talking about the window that comes up and asks "shutdown" or "reconnect". Strange. So when I want to close PCQuote and do it by just clicking on the 'x' on the corner, there is no problem. I used the shutdown a couple of time when I couldn't reconnect and it made that loud sound with the drive.

I am counting on the fact that Comtex news is real time, if it isn't I would dump it. Yahoo takes a while before it's updated. Let's see how things work out.

Thanks for all the memory info. I emailed your post to myself not to lose it here, though it looks like this thread is our private one. You are a nice guy. I'll bug you again if I have questions. Techie
