merger? spinoff? partner? alliance? CHICAGO, May 27 (Reuters) - Motorola Inc. (MOT - news) said Wednesday it plans to announce at a news conference in San Francisco on June 2, a significant development for its semiconductor products business and ''the future direction of one of the semiconductor industry's fastest-growing technology segments.'' A company spokeswoman said the announcement involves the future of the company's digital technology but declined to elaborate. Hector Ruiz, Motorola SPS president, will take part in making the announcement, Motorola said in a news advisory.
