Virtual Resolution as an alternative to Multiple Monitors

This has been mentioned before but it s worth bringing up again. Some of the Number Nine video cards are bundled with the Hawkeye utility. If you have limited desk space or are on a budget this is a viable alternative. You get the same amount of screen real estate as you would with about three monitors, you just do not see it all at once.

You can open multiple browsers or execution screens or whatever and spread them around the virtual space. They become available as you move the mouse towards them. You save minimizing and maximizing the program windows. There are several options for configuring the virtual space. You can have all space to the right and left or you can have space below and also to the right.

I use virtual resolution on a couple of my multitasking computers and find it very useful. For example I open a spread sheet for indexing files but do not need to see it all the time so I store it to the lower right , off my primary working screen. When it comes time to index a file I merely move the mouse towards the lower right and the screen scrolls to the spread sheet.
