I stumbled across this after a search of CLEV thinking that Cleveland Golf was coming public. Wow, instead it's the Tribe.

Why would you want to buy stock in a baseball team for anything other than sentimental reasons? I doubt very seriously if it is something that would provide a competitive rate of return in the long haul. Have the Boston Celtic partners (public traded partnership units) ever seen any real return on their money? With the soaring costs of salaries, rising ticket prices forcing Joe Lunchpale out of the ticket lines, and some lingering effects of the labor problems still in the air, it just doesn't make sense to me. There's not a bigger baseball fan in the world than me (except for my dad), and I won't even buy stock in the Tribune; owners of my beloved Chicago Cubs who actually look like they are a little better this year.
