Ian,

I believe that the new NEC Roseville plant is not in the immediate plans at this stage. The land was acquired some time ago, as I recall. The 'giga-line' has been long rumoured (we were talking about it when my project ended in early '94!), but I wouldn't realistically expect ground-breaking anytime soon. And, if their pattern as demonstrated with 'mega-line' is any indication of future implementations, Roseville will not be the first fab to see 300mm, at least the first and probably the second will be implemented in Japan. I would hazard 2001 as the earliest anyone will see G-line up in Roseville (given an 18 month period from ground-breaking to early production).
