'Officials stress, however, that they will only have time to
fix major systems. Many less important computers will be
left to innocently think that the first day of the new
Millennium is January 1, 1900 - with unpredictable
consequences. The list of systems that officials do not
deem critical is causing some concern. Most are run by
embedded microprocessors, such as those controlling
electric fences surrounding prisons, skyscraper elevators or
medical equipment.
