[APTX] John, I have not heard that, but if it is true it still doesn't impact this story. The development of a fabric printer with 3M is the second half of the story of APTX. The sampling printer used at their design centers, if I recall, use proprietary white fabric. The hi-res color allows them to print the sample design and the sample fabric color onto the white fabric. This is sufficient for sampling at this time, because at this stage the design is what is under scrutiny, not the fabric.

But, perhaps the deal with 3M to develop a digital fabric printer is based in shortcomings of the present sample printer. I do not know. This is purely speculation. But it stands to reason, there will be first, second and third generation digital fabric printers with increasingly more capability.

No doubt there will be variations on the basic digital fabric printer, to meet the needs of the various sub-industries [T-shirts, piece good fabric, signs/banners, transfers].

3M has such a strong distribution base to manufacturing companies worldwide. What a terrific partner to have in the development of this radically new technology.

Anybody wanna buy some used screenprinting equipment?
