As to Tim's post you referred to, as the big red rooster says in the cartoons, "That's a joke son".
The risk is high, but not keeping your sense of humor will not help you. Sharing positive or negative research, news, industry insight and the like, will work to help us all. Facts, good or bad, is what is important.
I read and post on both Yahoo and SI's ASND thread and have read the 12,500 and 47,000 posts from those two respective threads. So the track record is there. Believe me I have read enough posts in following ASND that I have learned to see a joke, a short and the others for what they are and keep looking for the facts.
