Daw Technologies Awarded $18 Million Contract in Mainland China
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1998--Daw Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:DAWK - news), announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide a cleanroom system for a manufacturing facility currently under construction in Tianjin, China.
While the contract amount is yet to be finalized, the bid submitted for the work to be performed was approximately $18 million. This contract represents one of the largest single awards in the company's history, and will be a ''total solution'' for the cleanroom portion of the project.
This represents the second contract awarded to Daw for work on this facility. The company previously announced a contract for the make-up air delivery systems. Together both contracts total approximately $20 million and represent a ''total solution'' for the cleanroom envelope.
This includes component products of walls, ceilings, floors and both recirculation and make-up air delivery systems, design/engineering services and on-site construction management. Work on the make-up air delivery systems has begun, while work on the remaining portion of the cleanroom is scheduled to begin immediately. Completion of the project is expected during the second quarter of 1999.
''We have positioned ourselves as a company to provide service and support to our customers no matter where they choose to locate a manufacturing facility throughout the world. We have extensive experience in the PRC (People's Republic of China) giving us an understanding of the local culture and the unique government regulations. We have also developed strong ties and support from the local labor sources.
''This experience gave our customer the confidence that we could complete the cleanroom portion of its facility in the most efficient and timely manner possible,'' stated Steven Burt, senior vice president of field operations responsible for the Asia/Pacific Region.
Ronald W. Daw, chief executive officer and president commented, ''We are very pleased with this contract and the customer confidence this selection represents. It is important to note that we were selected over cleanroom competitors from Korea, Germany and the U.S.
''Although we have previously provided products and services to this customer (a leading multi-national semiconductor manufacturer), this contract represents the first time we will provide a ''total solution'' for this customer's cleanroom needs.
''It is our goal to demonstrate the value of a single provider for the entire cleanroom envelope. We also believe that the size of this contract and its successful completion will further strengthen our presence in the PRC, where we have been able to secure a large majority of all the contracts awarded, and will enable us to maintain our position as the leading cleanroom provider in China.''
Daw Technologies Inc. provides ultraclean manufacturing environments, or cleanrooms, for customers throughout the world and specializes in the design, manufacturing and installation of cleanrooms meeting stringent semiconductor manufacturing requirements.
