I'm in total agreement with you. As a Software Engineer I understand the techno babble, however I wouldn't buy a clone for my money either. Nor would most IS managers spend several million so they could save $300 per box. The cost of the software alone makes the box price nearly irrelavent. Does anyone remember the old slogan "Nobody every got fired buying IBM" that seems to apply in the Intel Inside campaign today.

Oh sure there's a few wins for AMD by IS for X many boxes, but this has always been peanuts compared to Intels shares. AMD and Cyrix live off the crumbs Intel leaves behind, yes they are some pretty big crumbs and if you can time things right, you can make some good money. However, as always, Intel pulls the strings and decides via it's own internal schedule when to kill a product line, i.e. sweeping the floor! This will happen in 97, it's coming and we all know it.

So if you must play AMD or Cyrix, be ever watchful!!
