LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 1996--
Firm Licenses Leading Year 2000 Technology to Help Clients Protect Corporate IT Investments into the Next Millennium
KPMG Peat Marwick LLP today announced a joint agreement with VIASOFT, Inc. that combines KPMG's Global 2000 professional services with VIASOFT's technology for addressing the Year 2000 challenge. According to the terms of the agreement, VIASOFT's Existing Systems Workbench technology, a powerful suite of integrated software reengineering tools, will be leveraged by KPMG's Global 2000 practice. Global 2000 is the company's service to help address the issues associated with rapidly and cost-effectively converting or reengineering enterprise-wide systems before the new millennium. The agreement initially encompasses North America; other countries will be handled on a case by case basis. "We're pleased to work with KPMG, one of the largest professional services firms in the industry," said VIASOFT's President and CEO, Steven D. Whiteman. "KPMG's Global Year 2000 practice extends beyond helping clients solve the millennium date change problem and focuses on adding strategic and competitive value to the process as well. This philosophy closely matches our own of helping organizations better manage their information assets into and beyond the Year 2000." "KPMG is dedicated to providing clients a cost-effective and time-efficient Year 2000 solution, and VIASOFT will play an integral role in helping us create these services," said Dick Kearney, KPMG partner in charge of Global Year 2000 practice. "The combination of VIASOFT's leading-edge technology and KPMG's business and technical experience is a powerful offering in this marketplace."
VIASOFT's Existing Systems Workbench
The agreement includes VIASOFT technology to address all three phases of the Year 2000 problem -- impact analysis, planning, and conversion. VIASOFT's Existing Systems Workbench (ESW) software provides a complete framework for organizations to understand, maintain, enhance and evolve enterprise applications. ESW will be utilized by KPMG to help their clients meet their critical business needs.
