Speaking of cars....

I'm certain everyone will be happy with how well I've been doing so please don't embarrass me....

I'm 46. About 10 years ago, I counted up the cars I have owned in my life and it was around 46....oddly enough.

3 were foreign...the rest were GM.

I guess today the number is around 60 , I slowed down, and the only additional non-GM is my old Thunderbird.

However, in the more populated states I may not be alone when I say I shall never buy American again.

Why?

Easy. They have gone to supermarket marketing. In all these years I have purchased cars not because of style or performance...for the most part...but because of availability of service.

Now...I am expected to drive 3 miles to buy a car....deal with someone who treats me like a nobody when I wish to have it serviced...

No, I don't think so.

I own a '97 Park by Buick ...these people keep sending me literature asking me to service the car, yada yada yada, after they closed the local dealer to open a superstore.

I was runnin' 3 cars a year thru these dudes at one point. This superstore idea is very nice but the repeat customers....like myself....don't wish to be inconvenienced. So I think the US Auto Market will be fine for the bare bones buyer. But the industry is shot as far as growth is concerned, because high end buyers wish convenience, not blue light specials. The high end buyers are where they make the margins.

So, my guess is the future is bleak for US auto makers.
