The problem with your stock theory is that if you did nothing to earn the shares then you are not entitled to them. Again I'm assuming Arif did something to earn them.

Something that I don't believe has been discussed is the chance that since this Company was started and owned by Arif, was/is he entitled to the shares he has?

Why he might well be:

1. Compensation in lieu of wages. Start-up Cos typically have little cash.

2. Instead of issuing new shares when co went public he sold into the market. Being neither an accountant nor lawyer I don't know if this can be done.

Just 2 senarios. Anyone have any others other than greed.
