Microsoft has got a bigger 3-letter problem than USB: DOJ!

<<The really weird thing is that Microsoft is now pushing FireWire over USB. I'm surprised to see them come out with a USB product.>>

This "news" has been out for quite some time regarding MSFT and speakers; I don't have links, but I understand that their speaker venture is not receiving great reviews. Furthermore, I have not read anything from anybody that MSFT's dip into the speaker business may also draw the ultimate ire of Justice. So, if I am the first to write, so be it b/c I believe that, while it cannot and should not be compared to requiring boxmakers to exclude Netscape, it certainly warrants an antitrust investigation.

And while I'm up here on my soapbox, Justice's decision to go after both gorillas, Intel potentially being the other, should be the type of "news" that would expand the p/e multiple of the multimedia companies, i.e, audio, graphics, etc. It makes perfect logic. If Justice can prevent MSFT and Intc from taking over all of these functions, which our little Creative happens to be in the business of, it certainly removes an air of uncertainty for the future.

Finally, let me just say that I'm more than a little disappointed that not one person has made a further inquiry regarding the $58 June '99 target price set by GSCO, which I alluded to last night.
