MSFT & Apple vs NSCP!!! Knight-Ridder News Service just reported a story with the title, "Ammo of Web battle: free browsers." Here are some highlights of the story, or should I say, lowlights for NSCP shareholders along with my own commentary:

<<For months, Microsoft has given away its Internet Explorer browser, the software that allows computers to receive text, pictures, and sound from the World Wide Web, on its site. When Netscape sought to conquer Mosaic, it did the same thing with Navigator, nicknamed Mozilla at the time.>>
- Do onto others as they would have done upon you. Microsoft is doing the same thing to Netscape as they did to Mosiac. Aww, the irony.

<<In a variety of computer magazines this month, including Family PC and The Net, Microsoft has included fully functional copies of Internet Explorer, along with loads of accessories including Real Audio and programs such as Eudora that make it work better. <snip> And the reduced subscription rates that sites like the Wall Street Journal and ESPNet SportsZone give to Internet Explorer users that are still valid.>>
- Looks like Microsoft is taking the AOL approach of bombarding everyone with their software. Kinda forces you to try their software by stuffing it down your mailbox.

<<Apple is trying a similar strategy. This month, in Macontosh related magazines such as MacWorld, the company is distributing complete versions of Cyberdog, its easy-to-use browser and suite of Internet applications.>>
- Oh no, looks like Apple is also going to be eating into Netscape's market share. When will it end? All NSCP shareholders may turn in your stock certificate slips in an orderly manner. No shoving please.
