Tours by JW@KSC Astronaut Invades T1E1 Reception His Goal: Mission to MIR Our Escape: Journey to Jupiter ADTRAN, BellSouth and Siemens present Astronaut Norman Thagard and the premiere of the newest IMAX film, Mission to MIR. Four-time Shuttle veteran Norman Thagard became the first American to ride on board a Russian launch vehicle when he was transported to the Russian space station in March 1995. At the end of his three-month mission on Mir, Thagard held the American record for the most time spent in orbit. Since March 1995, NASA astronauts have served as crew members aboard the Russian Space Station Mir. Mission to Mir is a filmed journal of these historic events and is a giant-screen tour of the Mir that gives viewers a unique look inside the weightless home in space. After the movie, the reception will resume in the museum where everyone is invited to ride the motion-based simulator Journey to Jupiter. Tuesday, June 2 at Alabama's Space & Rocket Center adjacent to the Marriott Agenda 6:15 p.m. - Pre-Reception 6:45 - Norman Thargart Speaks 7 - Mission to MIR 7:45 - Reception in Museum and Journey to Jupiter Food will be served at both receptions.
