May 28, 1998: Acquires Miami Firm
United Dominion Industries Ltd. announced it has acquired the operating assets of Leading Edge, Inc., a Miami, Fla., manufacturer of commercial/industrial ceiling fans, air curtains, and heavy-duty air circulators supplied to the industrial/electrical distributor market. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
With annual sales of approximately $10 million and 50 employees, Leading Edge becomes a division of United Dominion's Marley Electric Heating business unit that produces electrical resistance heaters for industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Marley Electric is headquartered in Bennettsville, S.C. Gerald Bogage will continue to serve as president of Leading Edge.
"Leading Edge not only complements Marley Electric Heating's product line, but also fits well with the industrial air supply systems produced by TMI and King Company, other businesses in our Atmospheric Air Division," said William R. Holland, chairman and chief executive officer. "Leading Edge's peak sales are in the summer, while Marley Electric Heating's are in the winter, providing product balance. This product-line will immediately contribute to United Dominion's earnings."
