I do not want the government spoon-feeding children the party line via state paid teachers and carefully revised textbooks. At least with private schools parents will have the opportunity to decide where their children are sent and what they are taught. If bible-thumping fundamentalists want to teach crap to their kids, let them. Market forces will take care of them in the years ahead. Plus, I would rather deal with addle-headed proselytizers than armies of robotic bureaucrats marching to the theme music from "Brave New World".
