One figure that I never hear is how much does it cost to keep the wall street infrastructure floating for one month?

Yes .. people are putting their money into the market .. and brokers are getting their commissions, the exchange itself gets its cut, all of those monitors have to be paid for .. etc.

If wall street costs $100 million per month and $100 million per month is being sent in, there is no net gain.
