anybody know how a one for one stock dividend works??

does it do the same thing as a stock split or what?

would it be similiar to the phenomenon of the run up on stock splits (well sometimes)

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 29, 1998--IPC Information Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCX) today
announced the declaration of a one for one stock dividend. The dividend will be issued to holders of record on
June 10, 1998 and will be distributed on June 24, 1998. As a result of this stock dividend the number of shares
outstanding will be increased from 4,038,094 shares to 8,076,188 shares.
