Steven, that analysis points out just why price to sales ratios and P/Es are meaningless. Obviously, Compaq is trading at these levels because investors expect things to turn around very shortly (I have my doubts ...).

But this underscores just how ridiculous it is for some to say (as they have said on this thread) that Dell's P/E is too high. Too high compared to what? That's like saying a mile is too long, a hundred dollars too little, and 100 degrees to cold. These numbers only mean something in context.

But you will not convince Eddie of that. He has overbought the idea of Compaq.
