INTC's Merced might be late - a year and 1/2 late

" Citing unexpected design problems, Intel said Friday that it has notified customers of a slip in the production schedule of the Merced processor.

According to the newly communicated schedule, sample volumes of the 64-bit processor are now expected in 1999, with planned production volumes moving from 1999 to mid-2000.

Champagne corks are popping in Armonk and Appleland ! These are the only two computer companies who did not "byte" into INTC's 64 bit "kill all super-servers" bravado !

Power to the PowerPC !

Regards,
Jim K.
