Microsoft/Alpha:In Perspective--The Razor And The Razor Blade.

Alpha's Microsoft Flight Simulation strategy is right on the $. MS Flight Sim has been the #1 game for 15+ years in addition to having the largest installed base of any game in history in the world....Microsoft will simply LOVE [and HATE] what Alpha is doing to protect that franchise/institution...what is a particularly interesting twist and observation is the fact that Alpha has brilliantly? pulled off something more brilliant than Gillette...MSFT is manufacturing the [theoretical loss leader/commoditized/one per person] razor and Alpha is manufacturing the [many/person] razor blades [hence the beneficiary of considerable [and predictable/repeat] cash flows, pv, brand equity...]...in essence and theoretically wherein MSFT created the incubator for Alpha to reap the ensuing [Flight Simulator Razor Blade] monopoly...fascinating...and a compelling reason for MSFT to quickly neutralize Data Becker/Alpha incl. acquiring them?...hopefully Alpha creates strong brand recognition for this Alpha product line [and does so quickly!]............hopefully the Rabins brothers figured this out and this is why they have pursued this strategy...should this be the case...it is our opinion that SoftQuad International could have more potential than any other software company...we have said this before...and now have one more reason to believe it...NuKidCo is another one and should the HoTMetaL eCommerce mission take statistically significant share we may just be witnessing the makings of something great...no, HUGE...we are cautiously optimistic, to date...
