Re -- I think this also may breathe new life into the low-end competitors.. Nope, Intel's manufacturing prowress (higher speed versions and higher speed caches) far outpaces the low end competitors. Re -- Compaq's Alpha is now the stand-alone top line NT workstation box. Actually 6 months wont make a bit of difference, and alpha will compete with AS/400 and PA-RISC derivatives as it always has. Furthermore Compaq could stand to LOSE more, because of its "lack of attention" to alpha development since it could be replaced by the merced. Its just that the snapshot has moved 6 months. Stockman
