DVD equiped PCs hit 10 to 11% of PC units shiped in the last two months...............................

Broderbund Software gave behind-closed-door demos of a DVD-ROM version of Riven: The Sequel to Myst, scheduled to ship in August. In an interview two weeks prior to E3, the company's entertainment division general manager Ken Goldstein said he hoped that Riven will be the definitive DVD game on the market.

That wouldn't be difficult, say retailers, given the dearth of exciting DVD-ROM software. While Goldstein said Broderbund will try to capitalize on the success of the Riven CD-ROM, which has sold more than 1 million copies, he was conservative on estimates for DVD. Broderbund is targeting 10 percent of the installed DVD-ROM base for Riven, said Goldstein.

According to PC Data, Reston, Va., DVD-ROM-equipped PCs have accounted for between 10 percent and 11 percent of PC shipments in the past two months.
