There are two business for 56k modem: the client analog 56k modem which I doubt anyone is going to make a lot of money in the long term.
The other one is the server side 56k modem. This will be mixed with the existing T1 multiplexer or ISDN PRI/BRI multiplexer. The conventional wisdom here is that
companies who make this type of euqipment will enjoy high gross margins.

USRX, ASND and many others all want to grab a piece of this business---when 56k protocol is added, this is an entirely new business, new product.
And the prospect is mind-boggling---imagine 70 million V.34/56k modem on the client side for you to interface to !!!
