I think this press release is an attempt to answer the big question, one more time "Is DF-144 for real?" and to get the news out to Coast, Conoco and again to Exxon (shareholders and company). (I'm interpreting a consistency to the extraordinarily high ratings of 168? Is this news? Before they were admitting that one batch had gotten that rating? I've always interpreted the 144 as being their bragging point name; that DF-"144" was the high).

So looks like to me, that this is not just an MTBE replacement, but a cheaper and easier to produce octane enhancer. Even if MTBE wins in court (whatever, fat chance...) or some new additive were to come along, DF-144 would still be a win because of its unfair economic advantage.

GaBard's got it figured out that generating a new class of P was more trouble than its worth. The new class filing costs weren't worth getting into right now. There's real work to be done...

The big question now appears to be "When will the market recognize Ga Bard's gem?" And, <yawn> Frank, I'd like to change that wakeup call to $50.

Always wearing asbestos and never giving a damn about thread politics,

Jeff Harrington
